The Wines of Zur Dankbarkeit

Sand and gravel, sometimes covered by a thin layer of humus, are characteristic of the soils in our vineyards. Here we grow varieties of grapes of differing character, placing particular importance on the Burgundy varietals Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir as well as the Welschriesling grape, which has traditionally played an important role in our area.

The winemaker and restaurateur Josef Lentsch is supported by his daughter Chrtistine Lentsch, who as a graduate of several schools of oenology has brought a new freshness to the classic Zur Dankbarkeit repertoire.

Our full-bodied Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir wines are aged in small wooden casks, and our fruity Welschriesling, fragrant muscatel and the two house wines – red and white blends, respectively, with a large share of Burgundy grapes in each – are also extremely pleasant. To complete your wine-tasting experience we recommend a glass of our Trockenbeerenauslese, which we make almost every year, primarily from Pinot Gris and/or Welschriesling grapes.
